Give Your Meat Some Flavor
Give me all tender and flavorful meat! One thing we really like to push here on Fit Foodie Finds is don't be afraid of flavor! As midwesterners and in our culture in general we tend to under season our food, especially our meat!
Im not saying that you have to use a ton of salt (though sometimes it's ok to) but flavoring cuts of meat with dried herbs, ground seasonings, and more really takes meat recipes up a notch!
Pot Roast Seasoning Ingredients
Say hello to the newest dry rub on Fit Foodie Finds! This easy pot roast seasoning was developed out of a need for a great seasoning that we could grab and slather on a big chuck roast!
We use this seasoning on our Instant Pot Pot Roast recipe, but you can use it in any pot roast recipe whether you are plopping it in the oven, slow cooker, or the Instant Pot.
Here are the ingredients you will need for this flavorful dry rub!
- Brown Sugar
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Dried Oregano
- Dried Thyme
- Dried Parsley
- Coarse Salt
- Pepper
* Use 2 tablespoons of seasoning per lb. of meat.*
What Does this Seasoning Taste Like?
This pot roast seasoning is a perfect mix of savory and sweet. The garlic and onion seasoning in this dry rub are traditionally found in pot roast recipes, but using a little more dry rub than usual brings out the flavors you expect to find in a pot roast.
While the brown sugar offers just the right amount of sweetness to balance out the spice.
Make sure you use the suggested amount of salt in this recipe. The salt acts of a kind meat tenderizer and really gets the juices flowing in whatever cut of meat you use.
The thyme, parsley, and oregano create the earthy flavors that will make your pot roast and pot roast gravy flavorful and irresistible.
Recipe Pairings
After you've mixed up this pot roast seasoning and you have your pot roast in the oven, Instant Pot, or slow cooker, it's time to decide what you should pair with your pot roast.
Pot roast meals tend to be richer and more filling so we like to pair our pot roast recipes with lighter and delicious sides.
Here are some of our pairing recommendations based on the delicious flavor of this dry rub!
- Shaved Brussel Sprout Salad
- Amazing Cauliflower Mashed Potatoes
